Cop thriller “End of Watch” was presented at Comic-Con Convention in San Diego and will have its world premiere at the International Film Festival from Toronto, producers from companies Open Road Films and Exclusive Media taking the decision to launch in North American theaters with a week sooner than originally established on September 21, 2012.
One of the reasons justifying the change of release date of September 28 is the desire to avoid direct confrontation with SF “Looper“, Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt which opens Festival of Canada. Neither September 21 automatically ensures not rule the box office because occasions dealing with science fiction action “Dredd 3D”, which has received more feedback and more attention than “End of Watch” from Convention San Diego.
David Ayer wrote film scripts “Training Day”, “Dark Blue” and “SWAT” and directed “Street Kings”, so “End of Watch” is not a way out of his comfort zone, having experience when it comes to deal with dark stories about family, friendship, love, honor, courage and corruption, whose protagonists are officers of the Police Departments from New York or Los Angeles.
Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña Taylor enters in the skin young and Zavala of LAPD officers, two good friends who patrol the most dangerous and notorious streets of the metropolis of the West Coast to capture criminals and restore the rule of law.
Filmed entirely with HD cameras and hand-operated first person narrative, “End of Watch” will capture the action not only police officers but also components of street gangs, drug traffickers and ordinary citizens caught in cross fire, producing a realistic and grim portrait of the city and the police who risk their lives daily to protect the innocent, but insisting on a price and they pay their families.
