For Pattinson is one incredible opportunity, because the character has remained in movie history in “Lawrence of Arabia” in 1962 directed by David Lean, starring Peter O’Toole. O’Toole was nominated for an Oscar for this role.
The new movie screenplay is written by German director Werner Herzog and focuses on the story “female version of Lawrence of Arabia”, which was Gertrude Bell. Naomi Watts has signed on months ago to be the protagonist. Bell was a writer, traveling around the world, archaeologist, explorer, made maps and was politically attached to the British Empire in Syria, Mesopotamia, Asia, in the late 20th century. Filming for “Queen of the Desert” is scheduled for this fall in Jordan and Britain.
