Ryan Gosling starts in direction chasing a monster

Ryan Gosling will debut in directing with “modern fairy tale” How to Catch a Monster. Seducer actor wants to challenge the talent and behind-the-scenes in this film noir fantasy, whose script is signed by him.

The title role will be played by Christina Hendricks, the voluptuous redhead from Mad Men. The film will be centered on Billy, a single mother raising her two children. Her life takes an unexpected turn when her teenage son, Bones, discovers a secret path that leads to an underwater city.

“How to Catch a Monster” is certainly an ambitious project for Gosling and it will be interesting to see the director’s perspective. Hendricks, triple Emmy-nominated is wonderful in the show Mad Men and her presence will be a delight for many.

The actor recently wrapped production Only God Forgives thriller, which reunited with Nicolas Winding Refn, director of Drive and has completed a musically themed untitled project, produced by Terrence Malick. Currently working on a remake of Logan’s Run, with Refn and production for How to Catch a Monster will debut next spring.

In addition to involvement as director and screenwriter, producer alongside Gosling is Mark Platt and Adam Siegel. Distribution rights of the film will be on sale at this year’s Toronto Film Festival.
