Best Games Based On Movies

When movies hit the big screen, game producers and developers see a huge opportunity to cash into some of the massive profits waiting by making a game based on a popular movie. Unfortunately not all of the games based on movies have lived up to our expectations; in fact the majority of them suck pretty bad as they are terribly put together, incredibly glitchy, and butcher the plot to a disgusting degree.

Thankfully there are a few games that made it to our list that we consider ‘good’. These games, whether they accurately portray the storyline or not, are incredibly entertaining to play and are great movie adaptations that can be relived over and over via your gaming console. Find out which games made our list below!

Wanted: Weapons of Fate

This game is awesome for a variety of reasons. First off, it is important to note that the creators did not rush to finish the game so that it was perfectly timed with the movie release, instead they took their time and released it much later. When it came out, the game surprised many fans because it didn’t exactly follow the storyline of the movie either. Instead Weapons of Fate takes gamers on a much more intense and different story that more follows the graphic novels.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

This is another great game that doesn’t necessarily follow the storyline of the movie. Again, this game uses the general themes and characters seen in the movie and takes gamers on a completely different path. This game had some excellent graphics and voice acting that truly makes the game one of a kind. On top of that Batman: Arkham Asylum has a phenomenal sound track.

Spider-Man 2

Despite the actual movie being the BEST in the entire series, the Spider Man 2 game that was released closely follows the storyline and truly lets you feel like you are Spider Man. With a free world and amazing powers, you can swing all around the city; from building to building, doing whatever you want without anyone stopping you.

Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic

Again, this is another game that takes themes from the actual movies and changes them so that the game still provides fans what they want, however it treats them to an outstanding new experience. The Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic game puts you in charge of your destiny, which is something never seen prior in Star Wars games. Your actions and responses determine your overall alignment with the force and can significantly alter the game. These key features ensure that you continuously play the game to find out new and exciting things you may have missed with your previous character!

Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay

Out of the list, this has to be the one game that out did the movie it was based on. Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay was a badass game that combined stealth features with combat and allowed you to demolish your enemies in a variety of creative ways. With an intense storyline to back it up, Escape From Butcher Bay even spawned a sequel which wasn’t based on the movie, simply based on this game.

The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King

The Lord Of The Rings series is an epic fantasy that has tons of war scenes and battles. The game that was based off of the third, and final, movie in the series, truly captures the essence of the movie while providing hours and hours of playtime for the gamers. The war scenes were astounding in the game and once you beat the main quest, there are still tons more features of the game for you to explore.
