To celebrate the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Metal Gear series, Kojima Productions studio announced that is working indeed on a new Metal Gear Solid title. It is about Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, a game whose main character is Naked Snake (aka Big Boss). Father of series, Hideo Kojima has mentioned that Ground Zeroes should not be confused with a possible Metal Gear Solid 5, but rather considered a kind of prologue to it.
Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will be the first title in the series which will use open-world game environments in which Snake will travel by helicopter where he want (he can even cross the borders of different countries). Also, the hero will lead and other vehicles such as jeeps, focusing again put on the idea of stealth, Kojima wanted to bring to the fore the feeling of the first Metal Gear Solid (released in 1998).
Of course, could not miss a video demo of the new game, here things become really interesting. Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is based on a new graphics engine, FOX Engine, which is able to “take to grips” with more famous CryEngine 3 and Unreal Engine 4. The demo was shown running in real time on a PC with specifications similar to those of a PlayStation 3, Kojima mentioned that the console version of the game will show almost identical in terms of graphics.
And yet, although the demonstration was shown on the PC, the game has been confirmed for this platform. Instead, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will see daylight on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 are not offered details about a possible release date. Kojima Productions, in collaboration with Japanese studio Platinum Games, Metal Gear currently is working on Rising: Revengeance, a game that will be released in February next year for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
