As I was about to do a review on the PSP GO I found a link to a brand new PlayStation portable device that was going to be taking place of PSP GO. The PlayStation Vita, or PSVita, is an upcoming hand held gaming console that the PSP GO was cancelled for. It is set to be released in early 2012 for North America and Europe, but Japan gets an early Christmas gift this year with it being revealed on December 17, 2011.
The PSVita will include two analog sticks, a slick 5 inch display that is also touchscreen (yay!). On top of that it will have a wide variety of other features including: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth capabilities, 3G, app capabilities (Twitter, Facebook, Skype), Adobe Flash Player support, and more!
So how much Christmas money should we save up for this fantastic new device coming our way next year? Well, first you need to decide if you are going to get Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi and 3G. For the first, it will only cost you $249.00, but be prepared to spend another $50 for that 3G if you want the latter.
This device will also support a lot of previous game titles from the other PlayStation portable devices. If you have favorite games from the PSP, PlayStation mini, PlayStation Suite, or even the PSOne Classic then you can play those on your new device and even enjoy comics and videos from the PlayStatioin Store!
Gamers are already brimming with excitement as they eagerly await the announcement of the 2012 release date. This device will provide a strong competition to many other handheld devices due to its comprehensive features and realistic price. We can only hope that with time the price will drop and also this will force competitors to drop their price as well.
Sony aptly named the new PlayStation Vita device after the Latin word for life; vita. Truly this device will breathe new life, and interest into the PSP devices.
