Since Nintendo was to present the new Nintendo Wii U and its dedicated games, their conference was one of the most anticipated from E3 2012. Yet, Japan’s Nintendo has shown once again that they do not master the methods of promotion necessary to convince the western public. Technical specifications have not mentioned any of the console, no exact launch date or price at which U Wii will be sold.
However, the conference started good, with the presence on the stage of the legendary designer Shigeru Miyamoto (creator of Mario and Legend of Zelda series), which confirmed that working on Pikmin 3 for Wii U, showing the first footage from the game. Then were presented online facilities that will accompany U Wii, including Nintendo Network, the new social network Miiverse (quite limited and user too childish to threaten Xbox Live, PSN or Steam) and service Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Amazon Video (all already in competition offer).
Even if were not offered details about the console itself, Nintendo presented in detail the new controller equipped with touchscreen, which they named the Japanese Nintendo Wii U Gamepad. You can use up to two such controllers with each Wii U console. Then came the first big title for Nintendo Wii U: New Super Mario Bros. U. No doubt, Mario fans will be delighted by the return of already famous Italian plumber, unfortunately, although the game was designed for a console HD graphics rivaling the free games made in Flash and can not compare with titles like Rayman Origins.
Then were invited on stage Warner Bros. Games, who have two titles that will be launched on the new Wii U. The first of these was Batman: Arkham City – Armored Edition, a port of the game appeared last year on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Armored Edition will include additional content but specially adapted for options offered by Wii U gamepad. Also from Warner Bros. will coming and Scribblenauts Unlimited, a title which is in line with such childish featuring Nintendo promoted products. In addition to Wii U, Scribblenauts Unlimited will be released on Nintendo 3DS.
