Universe at War: Earth Assault

Universe at War is a strategy game produced by a team of designers away from Westwood (creators of Command & Conquer series). Reason for leaving was to create a new studio in Las Vegas. Thus was born Petroglyph, where it was created and Universe at War. Concept to create the RTS was incorporating many elements of science fiction movies and books. The story of an alien invasion might seem trite but still has a special charm. In this way they could provide for the player three completely different races.

Universe at War is a classic RTS that brings no innovation in terms of gameplay and other elements. Basically you have resources to gather, troops created enhancements researched and destroy enemies. At your disposal three different breeds, namely Novus, Hierarchy and massage. Exactly this is the strength of the game. Human army is present, but not as the actual race. Only the first two missions I have as protagonists people, then they only provide coverage for their allies. Differences between races allow for very different strategies. Also, each race has access to some powerful technologies that can be used as a tactical advantage.

The races are presented in the order that can be played. Novus are the robots created to fight against the Hierarchy species. Their creators were destroyed, Mirabel was the only survivor, a woman on board a powerful hero battle armor named Viktor. This race has fragile units, but they are available in high numbers. Also resources are compiled in a way to alert the workers, adding dynamic expansion. Novus Another advantage is the network of circuits that can be sent to all units open race. In this way they can take part almost instantly to conflicts in any area of the map.

The human race does not play an important role Universe at War because it is completely outdated technologically. Only the first two missions are covered with human heroes and their troops. No one but the actual race presents the story from the beginning. Their units are weak, being virtually wiped out by any enemy attacks. The two heroes are a General of infantry and the Commander of mechanized units. Only these two units can be considered strong compared to other races.
