The two directors and screenwriters worked on the project “Cloud Atlas” with Tom Tykwer, director of “Run, Lola, Run”. The characters are interconnected, because each individual’s actions have impact on other past, present and future. One’s soul can be modeled in one assassin in one of the hero, and an act of kindness can inspire a revolution over centuries. The cast are Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Sturges, Hugo Weaving, Susan Sarandon, Hugh Grant, Jim Broadbent and others. The actors playing different roles, different ages, in different situations and even of different races. The estimated budget for the film through several genres – drama, mystery, science fiction, action – is 100 million dollars.
“Cloud Atlas” will be launched starting with October 26, but before that will have its world premiere at the Toronto festival, where Lana Wachowski will certainly be in the spotlight. Initially it was a joke: “Let’s make a movie together”, but then they found Mitchell’s book, which he loved and began to think seriously about the prospect of a collective creative effort.
