The epic poem “Paradise Lost” written by John Milton should be screened this year, while in 2011 it was announced that director Alex Proyas will adapt the literary text. Bradley Cooper was cast in the main role, of Lucifer, the fallen angel. The actor, who attended at the Sundance Festival from January, he told to the Total Film journalists that is very excited to play the role of devil.
Unfortunately, the production of the movie “Paradise Lost” has found some obstacles, and the project will be left out. Earlier this year the first signs emerged that the movie has difficulties when filming was postponed in January for the summer. Now, the project was put on the shelf after the Legendary donors have withdrawn. They have tried to reduce the film budget to 120 million dollars, but failed because they surrendered.
“Paradise Lost” had become so expensive mainly due to costs for the visual effects, from which Proyas want to use a plenty of them. Perhaps the movie project will enter in work when the cost of visual effects will be smaller. This is not the first movie with high ambitions, even extravagant, that was dropped by the donors because they concluded that the claimed budget would impoverish them. The same fate had it, “Arthur & Lancelot” and “The Lone Ranger”.
As “Paradise Lost” is done on a poem and expectations of the film are… epic. What probably will not happen unless Alex Proyas and Bradley Cooper will fight for the project and will seek for funding.
