Robin Van Persie is on a high. Any player would be, after scoring a hattrick in injury time against one of the top-ranked teams Chelsea. Arsene Wenger, the Arsenal Manager, is counting on his blistering kicks to give them an elevation in Champions League. The Chelsea encounter was a part of Premier League, where they still fiddle among bottom teams.
Aaron Ramsey has been a livewire and was extremely instrumental against Chelsea. At 3-3, John Terry funnily slipped to give Persie a go and take the lead, which he increased in injury time. Some say it was divine intervention for Terry, who sis accused of racist comment against Anton Ferdinand of QPR.
Coming to the match to be held at Emirates Stadium, Arsenal goes with an edge as they won their away encounter 1-0, courtesy a Ramsey goal in dying minutes. Theo Walcott is another thorn for Marseilles, having proven his worth ass a feeder and occasional scorer.
Arsenal is in fact in the middle of an embarrassment of riches, finding it hard to place in Thomas Vermaelen, back in contention. The team is eyeing a position in the top 16, where the real action awaits. Barcelona, other contender, will also be engaged in a match today against Victoria Plzen.
Marseilles has always been reckoned as a tough defense to beat, spearheaded by skipper Didier Deschamps, French old hat. The team pulls through from its back end and often looks out for counter attacks. Incidentally, Chelsea has lost its last two encounters and would look to bring a smile on Andre Villas-Boas’ face when they take on Genk.
Chelsea will however miss the services of Ivory Coast’s star striker Didier Drogba. The battle for top 16 is reaching peak fever and football would be a thinking game between scheming managers of the likes of Sir Alex Fergusson, Andre, Arsene and Pep Guardiola.
