Things hot up in Premier League

Premier League is going stride for stride in the straight with two rivals and neighbors Manchester City and Manchester United letting only a hairpin survive in between. Man City lost to Moyes’ Everton by a goal, a loss for which City manager Roberto Mancini accepted blame. In another match, thanks to penalties by Hernandez and Berbatov, Man United beat Stokes 2-0. Now, the teams are in joint lead with 54 points from 23 games, and City holds just the goal-edge. Fergie is laughing between his teeth!

Meanwhile, Fabio Capello is holding a very unenviable job at the moment; being manager of England soccer team. There is ever the shadow of repercussions following the fact that their star striker Wayne Rooney will miss a few starting matches, thanks to the 3-match ban he faces owing to his indiscretion against Montenegro in Euro Cup qualifier. Incidentally, Darren Gibson paid his dues to his old club Man United by putting City under the hammer with the all-important goal.

He also has to contend with captaincy issues, a thing he handed down to Steve Gerrard, as John Terry was facing a supposed chance of being tried for racist slur against Rio Ferdinand. This happened in October 2011, but the council has decided to try Terry on July 9th, some 8 days after Euro Cup gets over. Talk about water running again under the nose!

Torres, the man who was quite instrumental in Spain winning the World Cup and Euro Cup, has been on a draught of late. He has gone over 1000 minutes without scoring and had the same fate eve against Swansea. Chelsea leveled with them at 1-1, and Torres has only 2 games before Didier Drogba will in all probability replace him. There is no doubting the inherent class of Torres but fortune is a pimp!
