Horror comedy is a subgenre, which attracts more and more public, which combines elements of two very different film genres: comedy and horror. So to taste such films must have a sense of humor (or of murder quite developed to be attract by the horror stories.
We selected films as new as last 10-12 years, which perfectly combines humor with horror and I tried to bypass the Scary Movie parodies type. We have in this top British comedy, northern, Japan, Hollywood blockbusters and independent films that have one purpose: to make us die of laughter or laugh of fear. Overall, if you feel like dying of laughter, try the following films:
Shaun of the Dead could not miss from this list. It is considered by many the ultimate zombie horror parody ever made. The film is directed by Edgar Wright and he has in starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Kate Ashfield. In a hungry zombie infested London, two lazy friends’ endless struggle to stand a monster and save their skin.
Happiness of the Katakuris is a kind of musical-comedy-horror made in Japan, in which the dead sing and dance along with the story of an alive family. The movie shows the story of a family that starts a business rather than brings them profit, make a lot of problems. He transform the isolated house into an inn but have a problem with clients: all die overnight. The movie is directed by Takashi Miike, and it says everything about it.
Tucker & Dale vs. Evil is the hottest and also the most bloody horror comedy that I have seen lately. The film has in the foreground two peasants from the mountains, which are mistaken by a group of students as criminals. The film uses of all cliches of horror films to demonstrate how we can be misleading the apparent. Tucker & Dale vs. Evil is written and directed by Eli Craig and had the premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.
It’s anyone who not saw this movie? Then I’ll briefly summarize: a horror comedy in which Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg fight with an army of relentlessly zomby. This time the fight is not placed in London, but somewhere in the United States, and unlike Shaun and Edgar, the gang of Zombieland is trained and well armed.
100% British humor with a group of men traveling in a city to help its friend to get over a divorce. Friends arrive in a place where they hope to have fun, but where entertainment costs: because the city is run by psychopathic women who hate men so hard that they are ready to eat them… literally. The battle between men and women has never been funnier.
05. Bubba Ho-tep
Elvis and JFK are alive and living in a nursing home, and join forces to fight against a pernicious madhouse Egyptian mummies that terrorize and kill patients. Elvis Presley is played by Bruce Campbell, who still has active roles in (the Evil Dead series). The film is an original story and has a lot of black humor in absurd situations.
Severance it is a British comedy with black humor that will make you think twice before agreeing to go into a teambuilding. It is a corporate group that is going to teambuilding in Hungary and that instead of playing paint-ball and other team games find themselves hunted by some ruthless enemies.
The film “Fido” is a comedy with horror elements whose action takes place in the 50s, in a town called Willard, where everyone knows everyone else, and correspondence is brought by domesticated zombies. A few decades ago the earth went through a cloud of cosmic dust, which caused the death to rise from their graves and to rebel against the living.
A high school student who is struggling to keep control of sexuality and hormones makes a surprising discovery after being the victim of sexual violence. Dawn is a virgin and it is proud of it, being the most active member of the yeast chastity to which it belongs. While struggling with every ounce of power that it has to resist at these temptations, sees his younger brother’s hampered efforts to meet his stepfather, whose provocative advances are becoming increasingly hard to resist.
