We are in 2011. It’s been a decade of the new millennium and as Mayan prophecies we have one year and we cracked. In this optimistic note I wanted to start with a top of the best horror movies of the past decade. Of course, I spent hours thinking about what movies to choose and my ranking is purely subjective. Let’s see the best 10 horror movies in my opinion:
10. The Others
The others is the story of a woman who remains without her husband in the aftermath of World War II and she’s forced to grow her two children’s. The house is isolated and dark living as children suffer from a strange disease and can not stand in the light. Grace was obsessed with one rule: any door will not be open before the other is closed. It employs three strange servants, each more strange than the other, but who had worked there before Grace to buy the house. The silence is shattered by the discovery of the house that can be strange.
09. American Psycho
Patrick Bateman is a maniac killer who works at the New York Stock Exchange. The reasons for its crimes are discussed, among which may include excessive envy on his colleagues, material obsession, and pure hatred or maybe just complete madness. His dementia increases during the film, he killing at least 20 people in this process, including top-models, homeless people, colleagues, friends or anyone who stands in his way. The only person whom has an ounce of kindness is his secretary, Jean, but ultimately can not refrain and feel the need to kill her. Patrick often can not achieve if the facts are real or just belonging to his problems caused by psychotic delusion.
08. 1408
Mike Enslin needs to show that there is nothing beyond here and now. That it can exists life after death, that is no God, that is no second chance, or maybe yes? The movie Room 1408 is modified from a horrifying novel 1408 written by the tension master, Stephen King. But after a series of bestsellers bring into disrepute the paranormal events that had taken place in the haunted houses and graveyards around the world, he has no proof of life after death.
07. The Orphanage
The new home and mysterious surroundings of the place awaken the imagination of little Simon, who begins to lay a series of fantastic stories. As opening day approaches, Carlos believe that their son invents everything to get a little attention, but Laura is gradually becoming convinced that the old houses hiding behind anything that might hurt her family.
Located on the way to Paris with his French class, Alex Browning has a feeling that the plane crashes and there are no survives. After Alex and some passengers ask to be let down, his feeling is confirmed, and the plane explodes on takeoff. While the FBI is convinced that Alex has something to do with the accident, passengers who got off from plane before to it begin to die in horrible ways. It is not the end but they have only long their dead. All those who have cheated death they start to lose their life in a series of bizarre accidents.
05. Sleepy Hollow
A novel adaptation after “Headless Horseman legend”, the film is the story of Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) sent to investigate a series of crimes that are attributed to a ghostly, which appears under the appearance of a headless horseman. The decor is dark with gothic overtones that are in consonance with the atmosphere of the story.
04. From Hell
Jack the Ripper haunts the streets of London and melt faces coming out prostitutes looking for clients in Whitechapel district. The inspector Fred Abberline from Scotland Yard, along with his partner, Peter Godley, starts an investigation to discover the identity of this brutal killer. The consumption of opium gives Abberline the opportunity to have visions of the future that can help them to solve the cases. Can they rescue Mary, who seems to be the next victim that falls in love by inspector between the times?
03. Resident Evil
Alice and Rain are two members of the commando’s who must infiltrate in the Hive, a secret laboratory placed under the ground and that is now owned by Umbrella. People have contacted a biological virus lab and now they are turned into zombie. One bite or scratch them can infect the others, so Alice and Rain trying to be careful in their attempt to reach the Red Queen, the computer lab. They discover that the virus spread was not an accident and that there is a remedy.
02. Saw 3D
Now can be another deadly Puzzle. The work of Jigsay need to be disclosed and those who violate must be punished. Twice as many pitfalls, heart palpitations will give you in 3D. Who will carry on Jigsaw’s work? The wife’s detective or who knows maybe nobody. The last Saw film series will overwhelm say manufacturers, we live and see the new traps and end of the series. Maybe the detective will get away with for what he did or maybe he will get a lesson. Jigsaw’s wife gave him a lesson in Saw VI but it was not enough? A new character from the past will return but who may be?
01. Hannibal Rising
The film takes us in Lithuania during the Second World War, when little Hannibal and his sister are inseparable. But his world when he finally is forced to attend his family killed by the Nazis. Survival will increase Hannibal in an orphanage Soviet housed in what once was his home. The teenager, fled to Paris in search of his uncle, but finds only his widow, the beautiful Murasaki.
