Top 10 Most Awesome Movies With Unconventional Love Story

I have nothing against romantic films, but it seems that all are too similar to each other. So I made a top of movies which subject is basically about the same thing, but without using clichés, without “and they lived happily ever after” or other such sweet things. In short, love stories coming out of print.

10. Harold and Maude

The story of a bizarre relationship between an old octogenarian with a zest for an extraordinary life and a teenager trying to attract people’s attention around the fake suicide attempts. One is at the end of the road, but lives in full; the other is at first, but surrounding the death. The place where we know the two is also very unconventional-cemetery.

09. Henry and June

Inspired by the life and work of writer Anais Nin, the film tells us the relationship that it maintains not one but two characters – the writer Henry Miller and his beautiful wife, played by Uma Thurman, June. Relationships occur in parallel and we are not dealing with a ménage a Trios, being fascinated in the same measure of both partners, and above and married.

08. Secretary

After an attack of illness, Lee Holloway (Maggie Gyllenhaal) moves back with her dysfunctional family, decided to take it from the beginning. Despite the hardships, she tries to engage as a secretary at the office of E. Edward Grey’s lawyer (James Spader). Although it has not ever had a job, Lee is employed by the mysterious lawyer who does not seem at all worried about her lack of experience. At first the work seems quite normal and boring – typing, filing and coffee – but Lee tries hard to thank his boss. And his family desperately wants her to succeed.

07. Lost in translation

The originality of this film is that the two protagonists, even if they feel attracted to each other, they make no gesture to start something. In hallucinatory Japanese metropolis, two characters keep their ugly lonely and share thoughts and dreams. She is the wife of a photographer and he is an extremely busy actor went through life. Moments that you spend the two are very special, and even if they have much in common, but choose not to approach the spiritual. I liked the tension that arises between them and I liked that they left it the only story.

06. Before Sunrise

Two young people know in the train and like each other and go down together in the city of Vienna (which is not the final destination of any of them) to spend a night together. Walk through Vienna, they discover the charm of the city night and discover each other. The dialogue is intelligent and extremely well built. In the morning, they leave for each country and to each life, promising to meet again in the same place next year.

05. Ghost World

This is not a ghost story. It is a story about an ironic teenager, antisocial and extremely mature for her age (played by Thora Birch) who falls in love for a strange collector of rare music, immature and about 25 years older than her, trying to impress girls singing from the discography from obscure bands.

04. Corpse Bride

Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride takes you on a journey into the Dark World, in the tradition of classic romantic movies like “Edward, Scissors Hands” and “Nightmare before Christmas”. The action is placed in the 19th century in a European village, following the story of Victor (voiced by – Johnny Depp), a young man who seems destined to marry Dead Bride (voice – Helena Bonham Carter) while the true bride, Victoria (voice – Emily Watson) is still living in the world.

03. Bin JIP

A young wanderer enters in the unknown and inhabited houses while owners are away. He spends a night or a day there, hiding generous and rewarding owners with laundry or making small repairs. His life changes when you come across a beautiful young woman in a rich house are ready to run away from abusive and unhappy marriage that is imprisoned.

02. Crash

A relationship is born between people who feel passion only when there are extreme situations – namely, in car accidents. It is a film about perversity, carnal passion, fetishism and technology. Or: A modern couple looking for an escape from a monotonous relationship. Cronenberg film as only could be done.

01. Vicky Cristina Barcelona

On the idea of “Ménage a Trios” have been done many movies, but this is a success. Two friends go on holiday in Spain fall in love with the same painter and gets into a series of romantic trouble. Cristina (Scarlett Johansson) spend unforgettable moments with passionate painter (Javier Bardem) but also with his wife (Penelope Cruz)
