Top 10 Most Awesome Vampire TV Shows

I’m a fan of vampire movies and series, I admit. In recent years, vampires are back in fashion, appearing more and more movies and series with these supernatural characters. For those who think that vampires are cool after seeing “Twilight”, I must say that the great vampire films and series have appeared long before Stephanie Meyer have written a word of her vampire series.

10. The Vampire Diaries

The TV Show is based on series of novels written by LJ Smith, the first novel was published in 1991. Therefore if there are similarities between this series and Twilight, I think we can figure out who copied who (Twilight was published only in 2005). Although the stories are somewhat similar, in The Vampire Diaries, vampire brothers, one good and one evil, returning to his native village for Elena, a teenage girl they both want. Thanks to a special ring can go in the sun two without problems.

09. True Blood

Anna Paquin (The Piano, X-men) plays Sookie, a young woman who can hear thoughts of others and who falls in love with a vampire, whose thoughts can not be read, played by Stephen Moyer (who is interesting that played a vampire in Ultraviolet UK series). The show is special because it follows a narrative line throughout the season, which makes more sense to be based on a novel. What is special in this series is that vampires “came to light” because it was discovered a synthetic blood and they no longer need to feed with human blood. Now they circulate among normal people, at night.

08. Moonlight

Mick St. John is a vampire and a private detective who teams up with Beth, a reporter for a newspaper online. Between the two there is from the beginning an unspoken attraction which actors skillfully interpreted. Perhaps one of the most balanced and gentle series about vampires. The actress who plays Beth, Sophia Myles, played a vampire in the first two parts of the Underworld movie series. The show unfortunately did not survive after the first season, although many viewers and fans have tried to save the show.

07. Blade: The Series

Blade movie trilogy is known to fans of vampire movies, Wesley Snipes playing the role of his life. I expected this TV series with a great interest, being a fan of movies. I thought it would be hard to find a better actor to interpret the legendary Daywalker. Well, with Stiky Fingaz, the producers hit as it went so well the character that I have forgotten someone else played before. The story was well chosen series and managed to capture since the pilot episode.

06. Blood Ties

A Canadian series of investigations was well done realized with Christina Cox in Vicky’s role and Kyle Schmid in the role of the charismatic vampire, who with his undeniable charm has quickly spellbound. In this series Vicky can not be “enchanted” by the vampires, which makes them immune to mental manipulation, a bonus that it shares with Sookie from True Blood. The series lasted only two seasons, maybe because of the TV channel, not proper for such a TV show.

05. Angel

Descended from a famous series Buffy, that have David Boreanaz, who plays the role of the vampire Angel/Angelus, a vampire that after a curse he regained its soul and tries to escape from the remorse that had for the people he killed, helping those who have paranormal problems. In the series Angel, after he realized that his relationship with Buffy will not work because of the curse, he go to LA where he form a detective agency and fighting against demons and vampires for its customers.

04. Ultraviolet

This British miniseries is special because it treats differently the problems with vampires. It is a team of former police officers or agents that together with scientists fighting against vampires and investigates scientifically this species. A serial with Jack Davenport (Coupling, The Wedding Date), that is best known for his comic roles. In this series we have and the actor who plays him in True Blood Bill as a vampire.

03. Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Buffy is a young not too bright at school that has the talent to get in trouble, and find that she have a big problem: she must save the world, many times, because the area lies at the mouth of hell and demonic creatures are after each corner and falls in love of Angel, a vampire, and then another vampire named Spike. The show created a real hysteria, and the characters Willow, Xander and Giles, along with Buffy, Angel and Spike are now on the list of the best TV characters. In most online polls, Buffy is the 1st best series ever made.

02. Kindred: The Embraced

A series produced by Aaron Spelling, who had only 8 episodes and the story about the problems of the five clans of vampires. It’s an interesting series because it shows us more about the lifestyle of the immortals. Among the key players are Mark Frankel (who died in a motorcycle accident in 1996, one of the reasons the series has never produced below) in the role of Julien Moon, head of a clan of vampires who falls for a Kelly mortal interpreted Rutherford (Melrose Place, Gossip Girl).

01. Forever Knight

This is another Canadian vampire series that has action as Blood Ties in Toronto. In this series the cop Nick Knight is an 800 year old vampire. The series is based on police cases struggling with vampires, trying to face with the bad things that he did in his long existence. Through repentance hoping to regain the mortality and is assisted by the coroner Natalie Lambert.
