Top 10 Most Complex Characters From Movies

Because would be a very long top, I chose only the main characters and I will do another top with second characters. On top I included only the films before 90′s.

10. Man on the Moon

Andy Kaufman in Man on the Moon, directed by Milos Forman. The role of extravagant Andy Kaufman, who do not know when it’s serious and it plays a role was played by Jim Carrey, who dramatically transformed for the role. Andy Kaufman played Latka’s role from Taxi and was a famous American comedian.

09. American Psycho

Patrick Bateman from American Psycho, directed by Mary Harron. Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale) works on Wall Street and is obsessed with body care (sports, diet, all sorts of creams, lotions, perfumes and expensive) and kill without remorse, from fellow job to prostitutes. Patrick Bateman can be easily confused with others like him, so the risk of being caught there.

08. Heavenly Creatures

Juliet Hulme from Heavenly Creatures, directed by Peter Jackson. The film is inspired by the story of two friends, trapped in their own fantasy world, obsessive, who come to kill the mother of one of them, just to not be separated. After this episode, the two friends were not allowed to ever see. They live now. Juliet role was played by Kate Winslet.

07. Monster

Aileen from Monster, directed by Patty Jenkins, is a film inspired by the story of AillenWuornos a lesbian prostitute who starts to kill men and their money. She was sentenced to death. Charlize Theron fattening 15 kg for this role, who also received Oscar. In the film, Charlize Theron is unrecognizable.

06. Barton Fink

Barton Fink from Barton Fink, directed by Coen brothers. John Turturro plays a writer, got a hotel room, which is disturbed by a neighbor about bizarre landing. Things get complicated, proving that the floor neighbor is only in the imagination Barton Fink. The film is full of allusions to various writers and directors, and the role BartonFink was written by brothers Coen John Turturro taking it in mind.

05. Sling Blade

Karl Childers from Sling Blade (1996), directed by Billy Bob Thornton, who also played the role. Karl Childers is a little retarded type, released from a psychiatric hospital, where he was admitted to killing his mother and her lover. He manages to befriend a child, but welcomes all kinds of problems because of past incidents. For the role, Billy Bob Thornton has turned so much that you hardly catch it’s him.

Jeliza-Rose from Tideland, directed by Terry Gilliam. The role played by Jodelle Ferland was filming when she had 10 years. Jeliza is a strange girl with a vivid imagination, which make all sorts of characters from her dolls. Jeliza is not afraid even when her mother dies from an overdose or knees when sitting on her father dead in a house in the middle of a field.

Betty Elms / Diane Selwyn from Mulholand Drive (2001), directed by David Lynch. Betty Elms (Naomi Watts) is a young Hollywood actress who comes from where the fall with another actress, very beautiful, a dark story, where nobody knows what’s true and what is dream. The way Watson plays is impressive.

02. Boys Don’t Cry

Brandon Teena from Boys Do not Cry (1999), directed by Kimberly Peirce. The film is inspired by a true story and starring Brandon Teena, is played by Hilary Swank, who also received an Oscar for his performance in this film. Brandon Teena is a troubled teenage sexual identity, who dress and act like a boy. She even manages to get a girlfriend and join a group which is taken as a boy.

01. Breaking the Waves

Bess McNeill from Breaking the Waves, directed by Lars von Trier. The role was played by Emily Watson. Bess McNeill is a young woman from a village in Scotland awaiting her husband to return from the oil platform where they work. When he suffers an accident and is bedridden, Bess begins to think he can get a divine help, sleeping with other men. Emily Watson plays flawlessly.
