Pawn Stars is reality show that aired first on the History channel back on July 19, 2009. Its widespread appeal gained many loyal viewers and it soon became a History channel favorite.
The show features a pawn shop set out in Las Vegas, Nevada owned by the Harrison family. Due to the fact that they are in Las Vegas they get a lot of extremely unique and sometimes absurd items. The family itself has a lot of personality and each character is unique, bringing their own flavor to the show.
Learning more about each of the characters in this show will bring more understanding to their actions as you watch it. Below is a short excerpt of each.
Rick Harrison – He is the main focus of the show, and co-owns the shop with his father Richard Harrison. Rick has been in the pawn business for a long time, starting just when he was an early teenager. His success soon lead to him dropping out of high school due to the fact that he was making several grand a week! Ever since he’s been in the business and has made a very good living at it!
Richard Harrison (known as The Old Man) – He co-owns the pawn shop with his son Rick Harrison since 1988. He loves his work and is early every single day. On top of that he hasn’t had a sick day in over seven years. His gruffness and no nonsense attitude is a stark clash with the two younger boys who work at the shop.
Cory Harrison (known also as Big Hoss) – Corey is Ricks son, and the grandson of Richard Harrison. He began working at his fathers shop at age nine and is now a manager of the thirty other employees that work at the shop. He is direct in line to inherit the shop and Rick is doing his best to ensure that he will be a successful owner in the future.
Austin Russell (Chumlee) – Chumlee has been employed for about five years at the shop and is a childhood friend of Corey. Chumlee has a somewhat simple demeanor and is often the source of peoples jokes around the shop, however he keeps things running by working in the back and testing things out.
